Key Responsibilities
  • Providing a high level of administrative support to architectural teams
  • Providing quality document control and data entry
  • Administering coordination between project teams (architects, consultants, clients, and contractors)
  • Creating and drafting, compiling, coordinating, printing, distributing, filing, tracking and archiving project correspondence and documentation during all project phases such as:
    • Design:  Photos, tender and design packages, specifications, schedules and other project related materials as directed by the project design team
    • Construction: Process and track shop drawings, RFIs, site instructions, proposed changes, change orders, building permits, and other project related materials as directed by the project design team
  • Maintaining project-specific digital and hard copy filing systems
  • In collaboration with architectural teams, uploading drawing packages to ftp sites and issuing packages for milestone project deadlines
  • Maintaining project contact lists and team calendars
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings, including setting up video and telephone conferencing (face to face, web, video conference) and typing/formatting meeting minutes
  • Developing and implementing new project coordination procedures, as needed
  • Being fluent in office project administration standards and acting as a resource to project teams to maintain them
  • Occasional overtime
  • Provide administrative support to other projects when Administrative Project Coordinators are on vacation/away
Qualifications
  • 3+ years previous office / administrative experience
  • Excellent computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must
  • Knowledge/experience with Newforma, SharePoint, InDesign, MS Office , Bluebeam Studio and database software such as Newforma, Ebuilder, Procore, Aconex would be an asset
  • Superior organizational skills and strong time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and solve conflicting and overlapping deadlines
  • Manage multiple design and construction projects with varying document control and distribution guidelines
  • Responsible and accurate, with attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn, teach and work collaboratively
  • Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing situations, follow timelines, and meet deadlines adapt to changing situations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of architecture and construction is a definite asset

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic design focused individuals with a minimum of 5 years experience with laboratory design and 8-10 years of architectural experience to join our Toronto or Vancouver offices.  The ideal candidates will have well-rounded architectural experience and demonstrated experience in the design and documentation of complex laboratory and health care projects.  They should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, very good organizational skills, and be able to multi-task in a busy office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to architectural design, detailing and documentation on projects in collaboration with the project architects and team members
  • Meet with clients and stakeholders to design a wide range of laboratory and investigative spaces
  • Plan and coordinate a variety of laboratory spaces including wet and dry labs, animal labs and
  • Coordinate laboratory equipment requirements with engineering and FFE teams
  • Prepare architectural models and drawings using Revit and other modeling software

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated pursuit of excellence in design
  • A professional degree in Architecture
  • Advanced training and work experience in REVIT
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and documentation of wet bench bioscience laboratories in a university, healthcare or pharmaceutical environment. Contract Administration experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and documentation of dry bench and analytics laboratories in a university, healthcare or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and documentation of animal care facilities would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with complex room data management systems such as dRofus
  • Working knowledge of current versions of AutoCAD. Experience in modeling software such as Rhino, Sketchup, 3D Max and CS Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) is considered an asset.
  • Experience during the contract administration phase of a complex lab environment is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

We are looking for a BIM Coordinator to join our Toronto office to help shape the way we design excellence. The BIM Coordinator will work in collaboration with the other BIM Coordinators and BIM Managers to help us improve our project workflows, software adherence and library content. The BIM Coordinator should be able to work independently and communicate clearly with project teams.  A good understanding of construction means and methods is essential for developing consistent and thorough content libraries.

  • Coach, mentor and supervise the process of virtually constructing a building with a project team.
  • Assist in training and project workflows.
  • Develop project specific content (family) library.
  • Collaborate with the BIM team to improve DSA’s current Revit template.
  • Ensure standards defined on the project BIM Execution Plan and project workflows are adhered to.
  • Manage project models to ensure a healthy BIM database.
  • Conduct Clash-detection and conflict resolution.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-year College diploma or University degree from a recognized architectural program.
  • 2 years progressive work experience in an architectural office or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of REVIT
  • Ability to read 2D working drawings.
  • Understanding of common building components and how they are assembled to form a complete building.
  • Multitasking, and project management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Comfortable communicating in working groups of diverse sizes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • BIM visual programming platforms such as Dynamo are an asset.
  • Programming background is a benefit but not a requirement.
  • Understanding BIM for Facility Management is a benefit, but not a requirement.

They will work closely with principals, associates and architects in a collaborative studio environment to contribute design ideas and provide direction to project teams.
