Ryerson Image Centre
Ryerson University
The design concept for the Ryerson Image Centre with it's new Photography Gallery, Research Centre and expanded academic space reflects the vitality and artistry of its users and places the University amongst the top international centres for photography and related disciplines.
The School of Image Arts, currently housed in an almost windowless, former brewery warehouse, is dedicated to the teaching and research of photography, film, and new media. The expansion project envisions the warehouse building re-clad in glass, adding new day-lit spaces for students and faculty. At night, the façade is further animated by multi-coloured LED lighting that changes with the events taking place within. This innovative play of light provides a widely visible presence for the building in keeping with the vibrant artistic pursuits undertaken within
