The Apotex Centre
Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care
Located at the Jewish Home for the Aged at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, the Apotex Centre accommodates 372 long-term care residents and 100 beds in the Centre For Cognitive Disorders.
Recognizing that a home-like environment was needed for satisfactory long term care, the Apotex Centre is made up of 36 semi-autonomous, home-like clusters, each consists of twelve private bedrooms and a living room and dining room. A winter garden forms the centre of the complex, providing an all-weather gathering place. As well, three other protected courtyard gardens have been designed to meet the specific needs of those with Alzheimer's disease. The centre provides an environment that is attractive to residents, their families and staff, and facilitates excellence in geriatric care, research and education.
