The People Behind the Buildings
Diamond Schmitt Architects is a full-service practice with 90 architectural staff and 30 support personnel. The firm’s longstanding respect within the profession is testament to the commitment we uphold to design excellence and the collaborative spirit that our workplace instills. We operate much like a studio where teams work on projects from beginning to completion. This provides continuity, coherence and a strong sense of ownership for every undertaking.
The firm has 17 principals who oversee projects, develop business and manage day-to-day operations of the company. These stakeholders also establish the future direction and objectives of the firm, and ensure that financial stability is maintained.
The 11 associates are project architects who assume the management and responsibility for their assignments. They are key to a project’s success, liaising with the client, consultants, and their teams to deliver projects on time and on budget.
More than 20 languages are spoken in the office, which broadens the cultural perspective that informs our work. Participation in all aspects of the company's endeavours is encouraged and exemplified by the weekly design review meetings where everyone joins in the discussion of specific projects.
