
John Featherstone
Biography
John Featherstone began his architectural studies at Carleton University and graduated from the University of Toronto where he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree, with Honours standing. John joined the firm in 1998 and is a LEED-Accredited Professional, the firm’s senior laboratory consultant. He is a specialist in the design of research vivaria and bio-containment labs. John has more than 30 years of design and construction experience and has had a lifelong interest in sustainability. He has an extensive background in all phases of project programming, planning, design and construction both as a project manager and as an internal consultant to project teams. John’s work with the firm encompasses a wide range of academic and healthcare research facilities in North America. He is presently working on the post-occupancy phase of the Queen’s University School of Medicine building. John is also involved in the construction phase of the new Reactor Materials Testing Laboratory for Queen’s. Other recent projects include NRCan’s CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory, a LEED Platinum candidate at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, and St. Michael’s Hospital Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute in Toronto.
